Grisell Santiago has been teaching at PK Yonge for ten years, previously she taught at the University of Central Florida. She is now teaching Spanish II, Spanis 3, AP Spanish Language & Culture, and AP Spanish Literature & Culture. She is also the sponsor of the Hispanic Honor Society and the International Club.
Sra. Santiago’s hard work and drive is showcased through her strenuous hours after-school durations to aid student’s success and enhance their knowledge, fluency, and proficiency in Spanish. Additionally, Sra. Santiago dedicates her teacher work days by extending more hours of aid and assistance for students who desire such support. She sees triumph and success in each student she educates and wholeheartedly supplies them with a bounty of confidence and assurance.
During the tedious competition seasons during the months of February through March, Sra. Santiago is our leverage and vigorous unflagging motivator. She earnestly allows us, the competitors of the play, dance, and the brain brawl of the four Spanish language competitions, to rehearse and practice, even during instances where the time extends past the required hours she is obligated to remain in school. She has also assisted immensely by providing with helpful criticism, supplies to better our performance, and giving us unyielding feedback and advise to ensure success. Such perpetual determination and dedication to her students represents Sra. Santiago’s unceasing drive for consistent progress and excellence.
Sra. Santiago’s capabilities of resilience in the midst of competitions akin to the Euro Challenge and the 4 Spanish language competitions and mastery in educating her students in Spanish 2 & 3 and AP Spanish Language culture in varying aspects such as conservation fluency and cultural history, greatly demonstrate her qualification for the World Language Teacher of the Year.
